Things to Do at Kuroshima Lighthouse
Because of its heart-shaped form—a feature unique to Kuroshima—it is said that visiting the Kuroshima Lighthouse will make your love come true.
It's nice to pray while taking in the scenic view.
Details on Kuroshima Lighthouse

The Kuroshima Lighthouse is located at the southernmost tip of Kuroshima, about a 20-minute bike ride from the farm road along Nakamoto Beach or the Agarisuji settlement.
Located at the southern tip of Kurojima—which is called Heart Island because of its heart shape—this spot is also known as a power spot for love and romance, as it sits at the tip of the heart.
Since Hateruma Island is the only remote island south of Kurohima, this lighthouse plays a very important role for ships sailing in the area.
There are two ways to reach the lighthouse: one is through dense vegetation, and the other is along the rocky coastline.
Although it isn't a particularly large lighthouse compared to those on other islands, its white exterior creates a beautiful contrast with the lush greenery and the blue of the sky and sea.

Minami-Kamiyama Ogoku (Paihamemawan, Paikamemawan)
To reach Minamikamiyama Ogoku from Kuroshima Lighthouse, leave the lighthouse and head toward the village.
Go straight along the road, and turn right at the end.
If you follow the road for a while, you'll see Minami-Kamiyama Gokoku on your right.
The origin of Minamikamiyama Ontake lies in the Onari-gami faith, which centers on belief in the spiritual powers of a pair of sisters.
It became a sacred site known as Tabigotake because the sisters provided spiritual protection through prayer when their brother was in danger.
He is also revered as the god of bountiful harvests and good health.

Pai-Futa-wan
Pai-Futa-wan is a sacred site that can be reached by leaving the Kuroshima Lighthouse and following the road toward Nakamoto Beach.
Legend has it that a god who once descended from Mount Omoto arrived at Iko Beach on Kuroshima and rested there.
The spot where they took a breather is said to be the site of Nakamori Ontake.
Meanwhile, Minamikaze-Hota-Utaki, known as Yahana-muto (the origin of the eight shrines) as the place where the deity first descended, came to be revered by the villagers.
This Yahana refers to the Kōji Utaki on Kuroshima and is known as a sacred site where people pray for bountiful harvests and safety at sea.

Nakamoto Beach

To get to Nakamoto Beach from the Kuroshima Lighthouse, turn left after leaving the lighthouse.
Just follow the road with the ocean on your left, and you'll arrive.
Nakamoto Beach is one of the most popular beaches on Kuroshima. Although it is close to the ocean and has a small sandy beach, it is rare for Kuroshima to have a beach with such comprehensive facilities, including a gazebo, restrooms, and showers.
There is a convenience store-style shop nearby, so you can purchase food and drinks or rent items there.
That's why you can come empty-handed.
When the tide goes out, a massive natural pool over 100 meters wide forms, allowing you to enjoy snorkeling safely, so we recommend visiting at low tide.
Since there are quite a few dangerous marine creatures, it’s a good idea to wear a rash guard or similar clothing.
Also, be careful, as the current gets stronger at high tide.
