How to Get to Maibara Beach
Maibara Beach is located about a 40-minute drive from New Ishigaki Airport and about a 30-minute drive from the city center.
You can get there by car or public bus.
① From downtown areas or the remote island terminal, take the Ishigaki Port–Ihara Line northbound.
② After driving straight ahead with Nagura Bay on your left, continue north with Kabira Bay on your left.
③ After walking for a while, you’ll come to the village of Yonehara, where many unique shisa statues line the streets.
④ Turn left there and continue straight ahead to reach Maibara Beach.
◆If you're traveling by local bus
There are only four bus routes serving Yonehara Beach: the East Loop Line, the West Loop Line, the Nishi-Ihara Line, and the Yonehara Campground Line.
Since each route only runs once or twice a day, be sure to check the departure and return times carefully.

Arakawa Falls is located on the left-hand side along the road leading south from Maibara Beach.
It flows down Mount Omoto, the highest peak in Okinawa Prefecture, and there are two waterfalls—one upstream and one downstream—which together are known as the Arakawa Falls.

This spot, located southeast of Maibara Beach, is home to a grove of Yaeyama palms.
