About the Hateruma Island Lighthouse
Built in 1959 by the Ryukyu Kingdom, this lighthouse stands as an iconic landmark in the center of Hateruma Island.
Until the Okinotorishima Lighthouse off the Ogasawara Islands was completed in 2007, it was Japan’s southernmost lighthouse.
Sugarcane fields stretch out around the lighthouse, and there are goats there, too.
Things to Do at the Hateruma Island Lighthouse
It's also a popular spot for taking photos.
Since it's located in the center of the island, we recommend renting a bike or walking there.
