Tomori Kanko is located in the center of Taketomi Island and handles regular bicycles, children's bicycles, bicycles for two, and bicycles with electric assist & child seat.

From here on, I (a local staff member) will share my honest impressions from when I actually toured Taketomi Island on a rental bike.
I hope this serves as a helpful guide for anyone planning a trip to Taketomi Island—whether you're deciding on an itinerary or figuring out what to pack!
① The Half-Day Tour Route We Actually Took and the Time It Took
The route I actually ran was,Village → Nagomi Tower → West Pier → Kondoi Beach → Kaiji Beach (Star Sand Beach)This is a half-day tour that takes you around the area and back to the village.
I rented a bike from the shop around 10 a.m., took my time relaxing at the beach along the way, and returned it just before 2 p.m.Even with time spent taking photos and resting, 3 to 4 hours was more than enough to see all the main attractions.
The actual time spent paddling was short, with each leg of the journey taking anywhere from a few minutes to about 15 minutes. I got the sense that this is the kind of island where you spend more time “stopping to enjoy the scenery” than “traveling.”
② Was it okay for families with children and beginners?
To put it simply,Even people who don't usually ride bikes or those with children can enjoy it without any problems.
The entire island is flat, with almost no steep hills. Even on a standard city bike, I didn’t get out of breath and was able to ride at a leisurely pace.
There's just one thing I'd like to point out, which is,The white sand path through the village. The road is very soft, making it easier than I expected for the bike to veer off course—I even had a close call once. For families with small children, it’s safer to walk and push your bike through the village.
If you're concerned about your stamina or are traveling with young children, I think you'll find it much easier to get around if you choose a shop that carries electric-assist bikes or bikes with child seats.
③ Things I Realized I Should Have Brought After Going There“
After actually driving it, what struck me most was,The sun is just so strong!That's the thing. Since there's almost no shade, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential no matter the season.
As for drinks, there are fewer vending machines once you leave the village, so I recommend buying plenty before you set out. If you plan to spend time at the beach, it’s more comfortable to bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet and a towel.
It's a small thing, but the bike rentals on Taketomi Island areThey often don't have a key.So, be sure to check your bike's number. Be careful not to mix it up with someone else's at the beach.

There is little shade on Taketomi Island, and the sun is strong even in winter when it is sunny, so hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential.
Also, be sure to hydrate frequently.
Long sleeves and rash guards with good ventilation are also helpful in the summer.
Sandy roads are easily steered!
The roads on the island are covered with white sand, and the steering wheel can be taken off unexpectedly.
