Details of Fusaki Kannondo

Fusaki Kannondou is a temple built more than 310 years ago in the southwestern part of Ishigaki Island, and is the most visited spot during the year-end and New Year holidays.
During Hatsumode, it is said that more than 10,000 worshippers visit the temple on a single day, and there can be a huge line of people waiting for nearly an hour to get to the hall.
In addition, stone lanterns in the shape of various animals are located near the entrance, and the detailed decorations show the commitment and rigor of the temple.
Within the temple, subtropical plants such as fukugi trees and ryukyu pine trees grow and serve as windbreaks. Even during the winter season, when the north wind is strong, visitors can stroll calmly around the temple.
