About the NPO Yonaguni Horse Interaction Plaza

Located in the southern part of Yonaguni Island, this is a park where you can interact with the “Yonaguni Horse,” a breed of native Japanese horse. Although the Minami Ranch is nearby, it is a separate location, so you cannot access this area from the Minami Ranch. The “Yonaguni horses” are small, adorable, and have gentle dispositions; in the central pasture, many of them roam freely and play. Created with the aim of preserving the endangered Yonaguni horse by utilizing them as riding horses, this facility allows everyone—from adults to babies, the elderly, and people with disabilities—to easily interact with and play with the horses. Visiting the facility is free, but horseback riding experiences require a fee. There is a wide variety of riding courses available, ranging from short rides to options for experienced riders who want to enjoy a leisurely ride. During the hot summer months, “Sea Horse Play”—where visitors play with horses in the ocean—is extremely popular.
