Details of Taketomi Post Office

Taketomi Post Office is the only post office on Taketomi Island and is characterized by its red-brick roof, which is typical of Yaeyama.

The paths are covered with white sand, and detailed rules are set forth from the way the paths are laid out to the way the houses are built.
As a result, all private houses, with the exception of elementary and junior high schools, are one-story houses.

The building is surrounded by stone walls made of Ryukyu limestone, creating a beautiful contrast between the red of the roof and the white of the stone walls.
There is a seersucker on the roof and a round post in front of the station building.
