Aim for the "Marriage Falls"!
Mangrove Canoe & Shower TrekkingThis plan includes a canoe cruise on the Fukidori River, which is designated as a national natural treasure and is home to hirugi (Japanese cypress) forests, and a shower trek to the "Enmusubi no Taki Waterfall.
Fuki-dori River
Compared to the Miyara River, which boasts the largest watershed on the island, the Fukidori River is a compact river, but it is easily accessible from the mouth to the upper reaches, making it one of the most popular spots to enjoy the changes in flora and fauna in each watershed.
Yabiku Falls
Yabiku Falls (Yabiku no Taki) is a waterfall located on the Fukitsu River that flows in the north of Ishigaki Island. This waterfall is said to be a "match-making waterfall" and is highly recommended for couples traveling together.
The Fuki-tosu River leading to Yabiku Falls is home to many mangroves, so thick that the river is almost hidden by them. You can definitely feel a sense of adventure as you canoe through the mangroves.

We had a canoeing and SUP experience as a group of 8 people on a company trip! We were so excited and noisy, but our guide, Mr. Ino, never gave us a hard time and took care of us! We will come back next year!

We also learned about the hirugi forest, which is a natural treasure, and enjoyed a relaxing canoeing experience. The trek to the waterfall after canoeing was a little harder for me than I expected, but I was impressed when I reached the waterfall. I didn't take my cell phone with me because I was in a place where there was no signal, and I couldn't imagine not seeing it for half a day, but I felt again that it is good to enjoy nature once in a while.
