Welcome to the backside of Ishigaki Island! Welcome to the back side of Ishigaki Island that is not in the guidebooks☆.
We will provide you with an experience to face the real reality that you cannot see in your urban life, "Now is the time to know". There will also be a workshop to upcycle the trash we pick up!

What do you do?
Ishigaki Island is known for its beautiful scenery, but in fact many unmanaged beaches are littered with drifted garbage.
While these pristine beaches remain pristine and beautiful, marine debris continues to drift nonstop from Japan and around the world.

Guide Introduction
Hidenori Tanaka / Born in 1980, Aichi, Japan
After graduating from college, he worked in the IT industry before becoming a fisherman on Ishigaki Island. Sensing the problems of the marine environment, he started clean-up activities on the occasion of the 2020 plastic bag fee.
It has been 8 years since I started attending Ishigaki Island and 6 years since I moved here. I look forward to introducing you to some of the hidden spots that do not appear in the guidebooks, and I look forward to working with you all on earth cleanup activities.

Gathering at the beach
➡︎ Meet at the remote island terminal approximately one hour before sunrise time and depart for the beach!(2) 
Arrival at the beach, free time until sunrise
After arriving at the beach at ➡︎, you will have free time until sunrise for yoga, meditation, photography, etc.(iii) 
Earth cleanup begins at sunrise time.

Earth Clean ends, heading home.
➡︎Sort the trash picked up and put it in designated bags and finish the Earth Cleanup, and head home.5)

530代Posted in month: 2024/09I participated in mid-September. It was held early in the morning, so even though I had a flight around noon that day, I was able to participate safely. We gathered before sunrise and headed for the beach with the instructor, Mr. Tanaka. After arriving at the beach, we had free time until sunrise to take pictures with the sunrise in the background and enjoy ourselves in a relaxed atmosphere. Finally, at sunrise, the beach cleanup began. The reality of unmanaged beaches with a lot of garbage washed ashore from Japan and around the world was astonishing. We were able to learn about the other side of Ishigaki Island that is not covered in the guidebooks and learn more about the SDGs. It was really impressive to see how the beach was cleaned up after everyone worked together to sort the trash they picked up. As we boarded the plane with a refreshed feeling after the beach cleanup, the sight of Ishigaki Island from the sky looked more beautiful than ever and filled my heart with contentment. I think this tour, which can be joined in a short time and allows people to experience the nature of Ishigaki Island and the SDGs, is perfect for family trips and employee training.

520代Posted in month: 2024/09This was my first experience with beach cleanup! Bottom line, it's awesome! The reason is that doing something that makes you feel good in the morning makes your day so much better and you can participate on the last day of your trip. We gathered in the dark early in the morning and started picking up trash after watching the sunrise in a relaxed manner while enjoying the yoga mats and moon tea that were prepared for us. I was surprised to see a lot more trash from overseas than I expected! The beach was a little cleaner and I felt like I had cleaned up my mind as well! You can be as calm as when you are meditating! If you come to Ishigaki, I recommend joining on the last day!

520代Posted in month: 2024/09We gathered at 6:00 a.m. and watched the sunrise, then went for a beach cleanup! When I met Mr. Tanaka, he had actually been cleaning the beach for over 1500 days, so everything he told me was fresh and fascinating. There was a lot of trash from overseas, and it was fun to know that this was from 00 and that was from 00, lol! I wanted to keep the beautiful ocean of Ishigaki Island. I would like to participate again!
