About Nakamoto Beach

Nakamoto Beach is the most popular beach on Kuroshima. Since the water comes quite close to shore here, there isn’t much sandy beach, but there are gazebos where you can rest, and the facilities—including restrooms and showers—are well-equipped.

There’s also a convenience store (similar to a convenience store), which sells not only food and drinks but also rental items, so you can come empty-handed.

At low tide, it turns into a massive natural pool that’s over 100 meters wide, making it a very pleasant place to enjoy snorkeling.

However, since there are quite a few dangerous creatures in the ocean, please be careful when entering the water. Also, be aware that the current becomes stronger at high tide.

Things to Do at Nakamoto Beach

Nakamoto Beach is one of Kuroshima’s best beaches, so it’s highly recommended for snorkeling. At low tide, it turns into a natural pool, so the waves are very calm, and it feels great just to wade in the water.

That said, you should still wear a life jacket just in case. While rental equipment is available at Nakamoto Beach, we recommend renting it for free at the Kuroshima Research Institute, which is located along the way.
