About Minami-no-Hama Town Green Park

Minamihama-cho Green Park is a green space characterized by its expansive grounds, located just beyond the Southern Gate Bridge, which connects Yashima-cho to Minamihama-cho, an artificial island built on reclaimed land.

There aren't many play structures in the park—just a slide and a small observation deck—but there's a rest area, a place where you can interact with dolphins, and an artificial beach!

At the rest area, you can relax and enjoy your packed lunch or other snacks.

Directions to Minami-no-Hama Town Green Park

Minami-no-Hama Town Green Park is located about a 5-minute walk from the Remote Islands Terminal and the city center, and is about a 15-minute drive from New Ishigaki Airport.

After leaving the airport, head south on National Route 390, turn left at the intersection at the Southern Gate entrance, and you'll find Southern Gate Village.

You can get there by crossing the bridge.

How to Enjoy Minami-no-Hama Town Green Park

Minami-no-Hama Town Green Park features playground equipment, facilities, and an observation deck, so you can bring your children to play there or have lunch at the rest area.

The park features a facility where you can interact with dolphins, and the activities on offer include a chance to try your hand at being a trainer—making this a unique and valuable experience you can only have here.

Nearly 100 cats live along the walking path next to the park; they are used to people and are very friendly.

For this reason, it is also known as "Cat Island."

Minami-no-Hama Town Green Park is a park located just beyond the blue-themed Southern Gate Bridge, a symbol of Ishigaki Island.

At spots where you can interact with dolphins, you can try your hand at being a trainer.

Minaminuhama-cho, home to Minaminuhama-cho Green Park, is known as “Cat Island” or “The Island of Cats” because it is home to many cats.

Southern Gate Bridge

The Southern Gate Bridge is a massive blue bridge spanning Minami-no-Hama-cho, home to Minami-no-Hama-cho Green Park.

One side of the Southern Gate Bridge has been converted into a sidewalk, and there is a large parking lot on the other side, so you can park your car and walk over to visit.

There are stairs leading to the top of the bridge, and from there you can enjoy views of the sunrise, sunset, and the starry sky.

Euglena Mall

Euglena Mall is the largest shopping district on Ishigaki Island, home to more than 100 stores, including restaurants, souvenir shops, and clothing stores.

As you walk down the shopping street, the shopkeepers call out cheerfully, creating a very lively atmosphere.

Just walking down the street is enough to lift your spirits. They have a wide selection of souvenirs and everyday items, so it’s a great place to pop in for a quick visit♪

Gushiken Youtaka Monument

In front of the pier at the Ishigaki Remote Islands Terminal, there is a monument depicting Mr. Yoshitaka Gushiken.

Although Mr. Gushiken is currently active on variety shows, he was once a professional boxer who set a legendary record by successfully defending his WBA World Junior Flyweight Championship title 13 times in a row.

The monument of Yoshitaka Gushiken is painted gold, and since the sun is behind it in the morning, we recommend that visitors take photos in the afternoon.
