About Minami-no-Shima Ishigaki Airport

Ishigaki Airport is the only airport on Ishigaki Island, serving both domestic and international flights. With direct flights now available from Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, traveling to Ishigaki Island has become very convenient. Additionally, low-cost carriers (LCCs) operate flights from Osaka (Kansai International Airport), making it very affordable to visit. (*Update: Vanilla Air began service between Narita Airport and Ishigaki Airport in July 2018!) For international flights, there are direct flights to Taipei (Taoyuan), Taiwan, and the number of routes is expected to continue growing in the future.

The airport isn't very large, but since it opened in 2013, it's quite new. Inside the airport, you'll find souvenir shops, a Starbucks, restaurants serving dishes like Yaeyama soba, gelato shops, and massage parlors, so you can relax and take your time.

The transportation network is also well-developed, with options such as regular buses (540 yen) that run to hotels and the Ishigaki Island Remote Islands Terminal, as well as taxis (just under 3,000 yen to the city center). There are also plenty of rental cars available, so you can travel with peace of mind.

Since it’s basically an airport, it’s a great place to relax while waiting for your flight.
