波照間ムリ（先島諸島火番盛）とは

波照間ムリとは1644年の鎖国時代、薩摩藩支配の琉球王府によって設置された火番盛（ひばんむい）。

火番盛とは、当時電話などがなかったため、中国などからの異国船の到来を伝えたりする海上交通の監視や通報のための遠見番所跡群のことを言います。

先島諸島火番盛は先島諸島に13島18箇所に設置された一つです。

波照間ムリは下地島の真ん中にあり、行くのは非常に難しいです。

波照間ムリはパナリ牧場の中にあり、目印になるものがないため行くことは非常に困難です。

また、パナリ島へは定期船がないため、パナリ島へ行く場合はツアーでの参加必須です。
