About Akayama Park

Akayama Park is a park on Taketomi Island that features a hill about 6 meters high.

On top of the hill stands the “Nagomi Tower,” a 4.5-meter-tall observation deck that is currently closed to the public; it is the highest point on Taketomi Island, offering a panoramic view of the entire island.

You can see the red-tiled houses unique to Taketomi Island and water buffalo strolling leisurely along the white-sand paths.

In addition, the Nagomi Tower was designated as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2006.

How to Enjoy Akayama Park

One spot that really stands out during cycling or water buffalo cart tours is Akayama Park (Nagomi Tower).

You can enter Akayama Park, but since climbing the Nagomi Tower is currently prohibited, please enjoy the sights while riding a rental bike or taking a water buffalo cart ride.
