Mangrove cruise on the Nakama RiverThe river is over 200 meters wide near its mouth, and the view of the magnificent river and mangroves from the Nakama Bridge is exceptional.
Mangrove forests cover approximately 300 hectares on both banks of the river, the largest in Japan, and are designated as a national natural monument.

Ride on a buffalo cart to Yubu Island
There is no direct access to Yubu Island from Ishigaki Island, but you can cross from Iriomote Island on foot or by buffalo car.
Yubu Island is one of the remote islands belonging to the Yaeyama Archipelago and is small, with a circumference of 2.15 km and a population of about a dozen people.
Each buffalo has an important name and a slow, calm speed.We will take you safely to Yubu Island.
While crossing the ocean, the local staff will play sanshin for us, which is also something to look forward to.

In this botanical garden located on Yubu Island, palm trees, adan trees, hibiscus, and other plants and animals commonly seen in the tropics are carefully nurtured.

After that, the buffalo car ride to Yubu Island was a tasteful and very enjoyable experience. On the island, we were able to visit the botanical garden and observe the chrysalis of the giant tiger butterflies, which made us feel the beauty of nature. Lunch was delicious and the entire tour was well balanced. We also stopped by the Iriomote Cat Conservation Center, which was a valuable experience.

First of all, I heard that the ferry to Iriomotejima is sometimes fully booked depending on the season, but since it was a package tour that included everything, there was no need to worry about that as long as we made a reservation. The whole process from embarkation to disembarkation was very smooth, and I was able to experience many things in an easy-to-follow flow by simply placing the sticker on my chest that I received at the reception desk. When traveling alone, it is difficult to take care of ticket arrangements, boat time, and meals, but this tour was very efficient and allowed me to enjoy Iriomote for half a day. The captain of the mangrove cruise and bus, and the driver of the Yubu Island transfer also give us a talkative guide, so we can acquire a little knowledge. The food is also like "the local cuisine," so you can almost cover all the tastes of Yaeyama if you eat this lol. This time, I am glad I chose this tour because it was calm and I could enjoy a solid half day without getting wet or changing clothes. As a first time visitor to Ishigaki, especially during the season when long sleeves are necessary, it was a perfect sightseeing tour.

The bus driver of the mangrove cruise and Iriomote Island was also a guide.
