What is Kubura Mitu?

This is a large lake (pond) located east of the Kubura settlement. Connected by a waterway,Kubura Fishing PortIt is also connected to Mount Kubura. The lush, green wetlands adjoin Mount Kubura, offering views of both the lake and the mountain. The lake is a marshland used as a breeding ground by many plants and animals, and it also serves as a habitat for unique aquatic plants. In particular, this area marks the northernmost limit of the distribution of the Mimi-mochi fern in Japan, and its distribution area is considered the largest in the prefecture. In March 1979, it was designated as a Yonaguni Town Natural Monument.
