NPOヨナグニウマふれあい広場とは

与那国島の南部にあり、日本の在来馬の一種『ヨナグニウマ』と触れ合える広場です。近くには南牧場もありますが、別のスポットになるため、南牧場から行くことはできません。『ヨナグニウマは』小柄で愛らしく、純粋な性格の馬で、中央の牧草地ではたくさんの馬たちが自由に遊び回っています。絶滅の危機にあるヨナグニウマを乗用として活用することによって種の保存を図ることを目的につくられ、大人の方はもちろん、赤ちゃんからお年寄り、障害を持った方にいたるまで、誰でも気軽に馬とふれあい、遊ぶことができる施設です。見学は自由ですが、乗馬体験は有料です。短時間の乗馬体験から、じっくり乗馬を楽しみたい上級者にも対応できる多彩な乗馬コースもあり、暑い夏は、海のなかで馬と遊ぶ『海馬遊び』が大人気です。
