Funakura Park is a green space located in the Arakawa area in the southwestern part of Ishigaki Island.
The expansive grounds are covered with grass and feature playground equipment such as a slide.
There is a well-maintained promenade along the coast that extends all the way to Kannonzaki, making it the perfect spot for jogging or taking a walk.
How to Get to Funakura Park
Funakura Park is located about a 15-minute drive from the Ishigaki Port Remote Islands Terminal.
After leaving the Remote Islands Terminal, head northwest along Kannon-dō Line with the ocean on your left, and you'll find it on your left.
It's located across from the park, next to Ishigaki City Makira Elementary School and Hotel Royal Palace, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

Funakura Park, located in Shinkawa, Ishigaki City, is a well-maintained park beloved by locals for its beautiful lawns.

Kannonzaki

Kanon-zaki is a cape on the west coast of Ishigaki Island, facing Nagura Bay, located at the end of the walking path leading west from Funakura Park.

Gushiken Youtaka Memorial Hall

A memorial hall has been built on Ishigaki Island, Mr. Gushiken’s hometown, to honor the legendary boxer’s remarkable achievement of successfully defending his WBA Junior Flyweight World Championship title 13 times in a row.
The museum displays gloves, championship belts, trophies, and other items actually used in matches, and videos documenting title defense matches are shown continuously.
